Look No Further Than Your Own Yard for Inspiration

May 16, 2010

One of the easiest ways to breath new life into your home when selling is to bring the outdoors IN.  You also don’t have to spend a small fortune buying fresh flowers at the store to do it.  Spring has Sprung and all you really need to do is look in your yard, your garden, or your local parks for budding flowers or stems with colors and textures.  But don’t go over board, doing small settings or a lot of one item is best to create a great impact for buyers while touring your home.

Here are a few examples that Platinum Home Staging, Inc.  has recently done when Staging Homes in the Los Angeles and Ventura County areas:

Birds of Paradise will always add a shot of color, texture & drama!

Textures, smells, color & warmth: Flowers and plants make a house feel like a HOME to Buyers as they tour your home.  Keep each arrangement to a single flower, color or texture so that the eye is not fully distracted from the home itself.  Just as in decorating, stick to odd numbers in color and variation.

(1, 3 or 5.  But 7 or more is overkill)

Also, let your arrangements be SEEN in your Internet photography.  A simple bunch of flowers can soften otherwise hard edges, and give the viewers eye a place to “rest” when viewing so many homes on-line.
