Try the Unexpected When Hanging a Masterpiece (Matisse)

December 31, 2010

A couple of rules need to be broken when it comes to hanging, or rather highlighting, your artwork.

Rule #1: Just because there is an empty wall, it does not mean that it HAS to HAVE a piece of artwork on it.  Sometimes vacant space allows the eye to “rest”

Rule #2: Just because you have artwork, doesn’t mean that it HAS to be hung on a wall.  Try something new and unexpected to make your artwork stand out even more.

Platinum Home Staging Original Matisse

This is an original Matisse sketching and this owner wanted it highlighted in a room that had virtually NO walls.  In fact the only available wall in the room had direct sunlight beating down on it for 5-6 hours every day (not good for ANY artwork, regardless if it has UV protective glass or not).  So we made it a focal in an unconventional way by hanging it in front of the wall of books where this owner loves to spend her days reading her collection of vintage and antique books.

We do Home Staging, plus SO much more. If you are located in the Los Angeles or Ventura County areas and would like to call the ONLY Home Staging and Interior Design Company in Southern CA that is endorsed by Pottery Barn, then call  Platinum Home Staging, Inc.  805.553.9952

Love this option and think it gives the piece the extra “oomph” your client was hoping for. Nice work!
